Agency Fundamentals

Course Description
Agency Fundamentals is a national training course offered to real estate practitioners in common law jurisdictions throughout Canada (i.e., excluding Quebec which operates under civil law). This material represents a concerted effort to consolidate agency knowledge in the interest of standardized practices and heightened awareness of agency principles. Agency relationships are vital to the listing and selling of all Canadian real estate. The Alliance for Canadian Real Estate Education is pleased to offer this course, as part of its ongoing mandate to advance professionalism through excellence in education products. 

The Agency Fundamentals course highlights the sound principles for those committed to excellence in agency practices. There are four sessions: (1) Agency Relationships, (2) Agency Practices, (3) Agency Disclosure and (4) Remuneration, Breaches and Termination.


Recognizing Structural Deficiencies in Homes

Course Description
As a real estate professional, you would prefer to know up front whether there is a major structural deficiency in a home. There are simple visual techniques that you can use to distinguish between a house that is structurally deficient and a house with character.

Learning Objectives
By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Learn many simple tricks for recognizing structural deficiencies in a single-family residential building.
  • Recognize visual clues that the house may be shifting;
  • Know the difference between a floor sag and a floor slope;
  • Recognize the difference between a serious foundation crack and a crack that has no structural significance.
